ENTERPRISE HUB
At BEIU our mission is to deliver leading enterprise education combining academic theory with real world experience, expand our entrepreneurial reach beyond the university environment and encourage entrepreneurs of all ages and backgrounds
Opening its door in November 2018 the Vinson Building has two floors dedicated to the Enterprise Hub, providing an incubator space for start-up ventures and a work area for students, and their businesses, to thrive.
The ground floor of the Enterprise Hub offers a computer work area for Business Enterprise students and the first floor is a large open plan space, equipped with all the essentials – whiteboards, storage space and beanbags and it is the perfect space for hosting talks and seminars.
In partnership with Buckinghamshire Business First, the Enterprise Hub is open to local businesses as a hot-desking facility, providing a flexible, temporary workspace to allow businesses to grow, collaborate and build broader connections with other professionals using the co-working space.
The Buckingham Enterprise Hub is a different kind of work environment, combining learning space with business space. This unique blend may help you rethink your business and inspire you to change the way you do things.
It all started in 2006 when Prof Philip Dover came up with the idea that we should set up a degree where students must start a business to attain their degree. The BSc in Business Enterprise (BBE) Programme was launched in January 2006.
Our BSc Business Enterprise was one of the first undergraduate Venture Creation Programmes (VCP) in the sector. It is also thanks to the enlightened support of philanthropists such as Susanne Klatten and Lord Nigel Vinson, alongside investment from the Local Growth Fund, that the University is able to play a pivotal role in contributing to innovation and enterprise in the region, through the Vinson Centre for Economics and Entrepreneurship.
The Buckingham Enterprise & Innovation Unit (BEIU) with its embedded enterprise hub have been able to set up as a key pillar of the Vinson Centre to help achieve these aims. The report before you gives an overview of the activities and impact of BEIU during its 2018 start-up phase, followed by the formal launch in March 2019.

Our Partners
BEIU and Buckingham Business First offer members a space for co-working in the heart of the University of Buckingham. The hot desks are shared between Buckinghamshire Business First Members and student entrepreneurs from across the University. The space develops the relationship between the resources and knowledge of the University with the local business community.
BEIU is a member of the Centre for Entrepreneurs’ Incubator and Accelerator Network (IAN) that connects and represents Britain’s leading business hubs and growth programmes. Members include universities, corporate, commercial and non-profit incubators across the UK.
The University of Buckingham is an active member of Enterprise Educators UK, the national network for supporting and developing enterprise education.
BEIU and the Peter Jones Foundation worked together to bring EntFest, a unique celebration of enterprise and entrepreneurship, to the University of Buckingham in 2018 & 2019. The festival boasted an exciting agenda with opportunities for students to meet and learn from some of the UK’s best known entrepreneurs and business leaders, alongside panel debates, competitions and skills-based workshops.
We work with Young Enterprise to help build entrepreneurial capability within schools, in particular within the South Central Region of which we have hosted the regional finals in both 2018 and 2019. We are always thrilled to host Young Enterprise as they help some of the best young entrepreneurs in the country make the first steps to running their own businesses.
